An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained the defendant proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six children that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"The police had not responded by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the authorities again.
She said the defendant then played the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
