Three fatalities occurred and no fewer than nine people sustained injuries in Ukraine's latest attack on the Russian frontier area of Belgorod, according to regional authorities.

The fatalities occurred subsequent to an assault on the village of Maslova Pristan in the early hours of Wednesday, authorities reported. Emergency workers were persisting in looking for people suspected to be buried under rubble.

It is the third consecutive day that Ukrainian forces have attacked the area, leaving thousands of people lacking electricity and no fewer than two additional individuals dead.

Series of Attacks Lead to Harm

Wednesday's series of aerial assaults damaged homes, transportation and power lines in various areas of Belgorod, per information from official statements.

Authorities shared pictures from the area revealing a athletic facility with its building components blown apart, and said that response teams were removing wreckage and evaluating the destruction.

Within the adjacent community of Moshchenoye, six people - including a child - sustained injuries when missile and drone targeted transportation, while a man was hurt when a vehicle was targeted in Masychevo.

The strikes follow multiple days of identical assaults that have led to electricity failures and structural damage in urban Belgorod and surrounding areas.

Nearly 40,000 residents were impacted by electricity outages across multiple districts, according to official statements.

Ukrainian forces have significantly escalated the quantity of strikes launched against Russian oil refineries in recent months, causing petroleum deficits and cost increases in certain Russian regions.

A minimum of 21 of Russia's 38 major refineries - in which petroleum is processed into practical energy sources like petrol and diesel - have been targeted this year, substantially exceeding as during the whole of 2024.
